Where is Victoria’s most sought-after neighbourhood?

Latest infographic from REW reveals the most-clicked neighbourhood and other 2018 year-in-review trends

Great shopping and epic views are clearly a big draw, as listings in Mayfair remain the most clicked-on by Victoria home hunters, a new infographic by property website REWreveals.

Homes for sale in Mayfair saw the capital’s highest average pageviews per listing across the year, said the website.

The neighbourhood that saw the biggest year-over-year price growth, however, was Fairfield West – the median home list price was up 55 per cent year over year.

However, REW pointed out that a large increase in median list price doesn’t necessarily mean higher prices in the neighbourhood – it could simply mean there were relatively far fewer lower-priced units for sale last year, compared with the year before. The website also noted that drilling down to individual neighbourhoods means smaller sample sizes, which are prone to wider percentage changes.

The most commonly searched home type in Victoria was a two-bedroom condo between $800K and $900K, reported the website.

Across the whole city, REW reported that the median list price for a condo in 2018 was $450K, up 13 per cent year over year. For a detached house, it was $985,000 – 16 per cent higher than in 2017. However, the detached home price per square foot was just six per cent higher than the previous year.
